Adapalene Adapen®

Uses
Adapen Gel is used primarily to manage acne. It reduces the severity of pimples and enables patient's skin to heal and refresh. The drug belongs to a group called retinoids and it works by encouraging faster skin cell replacement, as well as reducing inflammation and swelling. This action makes the skin appear fresher.

Dosage and administration
Do not apply near to the eyes, lips, or nose, or on any skin which is cut, burnt, or broken in any way.

The following steps are given only as a general guideline. Always follow the instructions of your physician.

  • Wash your hands using soap and allow time to air dry.
  • Using your finger tip or a cotton wool bud, apply a small pea-sized amount of gel to the affected areas.
  • Spread the gel to cover the affected area, leaving a thin layer over it.
  • Leave uncovered to air dry.
  • Wash your hands again using soap once finished.

Under normal circumstances the gel is applied once a day, shortly before bedtime.

It can take 8 to 12 weeks to see the positive effects of using the gel. This is because its greatest benefits are in preventing new pimples in their formative stages, whereas it does not treat existing pimples to the same extent.
