Uses
Alpha-D3 may be used to help with a variety of health conditions such as, osteoporosis, neonatal hypocalcaemia, osteomalacia, rickets, hyperparathyroidism associated with bone disease (both tertiary and primary), as well as renal bone disease (osteodystrophy). The most common usage is in conditions related to your body's calcium levels and its metabolism of calcium. Alpha-D3 is a vitamin D product, is also often given as a dietary supplement to help patients manage calcium disturbances.

This medication is suitable for adults and children weighing over 20kgs.

Dosage and administration
Take Alpha-D3 strictly as prescribed by your physician. Close monitoring is also necessary so your physician can adjust your dose in accordance with your progress and body's reaction to the medication.

As a general guide, most adult patients are prescribed 3 mcg a day, taken in one single dose, for a period usually lasting 1 to 2 months.

Side effects
The side effects that are normally experienced through using Alpha D3 are linked to hyperphosphatemia and hypercalcemia symptoms. These risks increase the longer the medication is taken for.

Precautions
