It may also be used to relieve itchiness of the vagina, anus, or ear. It acts by reducing the action of the substances in the body which cause inflammation and swelling.
Aristocort (Triamcinolone Acetonide) should be applied topically, to the affected area. Patients are advised to seek the advice of their doctor before they apply this ointment, so that they can be told how often to apply it, and for how long treatment is required. You may be told to apply it 2 to 4 times per day. Do not cover the area where the ointment has been applied unless your doctor has told you to do so. It is important that you wash your hands after applying the ointment, so as to avoid getting any ointment in your eyes.
