Uses
Atopex (Cyclosporine) is immunosuppresor given to dogs to treat skin problems such as dermatitis, as well as helping to reduce the severity of your dog’s reactions and symptoms to allergies. It works by targeting the cells which are affected and suppressing their responses and alleviating itchiness or skin lesions.
Atopex is suitable for adult dogs and puppies of at least 6 months.
Dosage and administration
Correct dosage can vary depending on the dog being treated. Always seek and follow the advice of your vet.
The most common prescription is 1 capsule a day for a period of 1 or 2 months. Dosage may be reduced over time as the condition shows signs of improvement. Tablets should be administered on an empty stomach, less than 2 hours before or after a meal. Ensure the tablet is properly swallowed and not spat.
Side effects
Atopex has proven to be safe for most dogs and adverse reactions are rare. If however, you suspect your dog is suffering from side effects or an adverse reaction of any kind, inform your vet as soon as possible.
Precautions
Always check with your vet that Atopex is suitable for use if your dog has any allergies, is being given any other medication (including vitamins or supplements), has any other medical conditions or illnesses, or if you dog is pregnant, providing milk for puppies, or used for breeding. |
