Uses
Carloc (Carvedilol) can be used to treat hypertension and heart failure. It can also increase the chances of survival for patients who have had a heart attack.

It is an alpha and beta blocker that is non-selective and can be used on its own or combined with other anti hypertensive medicines.

This drug helps by blocking particular chemicals reducing heart strain allowing it to recover more effectively.

Dosage & Administration
Patients should take Carloc (Carvedilol) as prescribed by their physician to avoid side effects. Do not alter your prescription without first notifying your physician.

Typically a patient may be directed to take this medicine twice a day alongside a meal or snack. The patient may be advised to take the medicine at the same every day to help them keep to schedule.

  Side Effects
Common side effects may include the following.

Feeling dizzy
Changes in weight (gain) and vision may seem abnormal
Diarrhea
Fatigue
Hypotension
Hypoglycemia
Asthenia

Serious side effects that will require immediate medical assistance.

Perspiring more than usual
Swelling, itching, rashes, difficulties breathing or swallowing
Pains in the chest
Feeling extremely dizzy, weak or fainting
Seizures
Changes in heartbeat (may be slow or irregular), mood, thirst, hunger and/or urination
Bruising or bleeding easier than normal
Toes and fingers turning blue
Tingling or numbness

Precautions
Tell your physician:

If you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to get pregnant
Of any allergies
Of any respiratory problems such as asthma
Of any mood or mental disorders
Of any problems with circulation
If you are diabetic (this drug may masks symptoms of hypoglycemia. Closer monitoring of blood sugar levels is advised)
If you have any conditions related to the heart, thyroid, kidney or muscles
If you have a tumor
If you are stopping your prescription early

Patients are recommended to refrain from driving or operating machinery that may be dangerous until they are aware of the severities of their side effects (if any).

Alcohol may worsen these side effects and the effects of alcohol may be heightened by this drug.

Tell your surgeon, physician or dentist you are using Carloc before any surgery as other drugs may interfere or interact with this medicine.
