Cartidin (Diacerein) - 50mg (10 Capsules)

Uses
Cartidin is prescribed for the treatment of osteoarthritis. A 2005 study found it to be significantly effective in improving pain and slowing the progression of osteoarthritis in and around the hip. Cartidin can also be used to treat pain in other parts of the body by reducing inflammation which causes pain.

Cartidin is suitable for adults and adolescents of at least 16 years of age.

Dosage and administration
Always dose as prescribed by your physician. Correct dosage will vary from patient to patient.

Typical dosage is 2 times per day, for 2 to 4 weeks. Tablets are taken orally, usually alongside a meal and with a full glass of water. Treatment can continue for up to 6 months as prescribed by your physician.

Patients with a renal deficiency should usually by prescribed half the dosage of other patients.

Side effects
Serious side effects are usually rare when taking this medication, though some patients do suffer from diarrhea. Some patients report suffering from abdominal pain and stomach upsets but both are usually mild and pass quickly. Other side effects that some people have suffered include urine discoloration, and some patients report skin problems like eczema and rash.

Report all side effects to your physician promptly. If you experience any which worry you, persist, or worsen, report them urgently.

Precautions
Cartidin is not suitable for patient under 16 years of age.

Cartidin is not suitable for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are also taking any form of antacid, leave at least a 2 hour gap before or after taking Cartidin as antacids can interfere with the functioning of this medication.

Inform your physician if you have any allergies, have any existing medical conditions, or if you are taking any other medicine (including off-the-shelf meds, vitamins, and supplements).
