Uses
Clopixol Acuphase (Zuclopenthixol Acetate BP) is used for treating psychotic illnesses such as acute psychosis, as well mania and severe psychosis. It is able to effectively regulate a person's behaviour and mood by blocking dopamine receptors found in the brain. As well as helping to manage the conditions above, it can also improve symptoms such as hallucination, disturbed thoughts/feelings, and major aggression.
Dosage and administration
This injection is usually administered by a healthcare professional at a hospital, physician clinic, or health centre.
Typical dosage for adult patients is between 50mg and 150mg, 1 - 3 ml. The drug is administered by an intra-muscular injection (IM). The injection is normally repeated every 2 or 3 days depending on the patient and their condition.
For maintenance therapy the injection is given approximately every 2 weeks at a dose from 200mg to 400mg.
Side effects
Common side effects include restlessness, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, stomach disturbances, or. Inform your physician if any of these persist or bother you.
Patients may also suffer from memory loss, concentration loss, slurred speech, tachycardia, or arrhythmia, urinary incontinence, skin rashes, or itchy skin. Inform your physician as soon as possible if any of these are experienced.
Precautions
Avoid driving a car or operating any heavy machinery until you know exactly how Clopixol Acuphase affects your body as it can make some patients dizzy or weak.
If you have a history of any liver conditions, cardiovascular (heart related) diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid related conditions, epilepsy, or blood disorders you should take special care when taking Clopixol and discuss the possible risks involved with your physician.
Clopixol is not suitable for children, or patients with Parkinson's disease, who are in a coma, or have a circulatory collapse.
Inform your physician before taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have any allergies, take any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), or if you have any existing medical conditions. Delivery Time: 7-14 Days
