Uses
Decapeptyl (Triptorelin) is prescribed to male patients with prostate cancer. It is only used to treat the symptoms of prostate cancer (such as painful urination) and will not cure or treat the cancer itself. It works by reducing the amount of testosterone the body produces. As the cancer needs testosterone to grow and spread, reducing the amount of testosterone in the body helps to slow the growth of the cancer and relieve symptoms such as painful urination.
Dosage and Administration
Decapeptyl (Triptorelin) is usually given as an injection by a physician or other health care professional. It is normally injected into the buttocks, once per month, or as otherwise directed by your physician. The injection should not be self-injected by patients themselves. Patients should attend all scheduled appointments with their physician, as physicians may need to monitor the patient while undergoing treatment.

Some side effects which may occur as a result of using Decapeptyl (Triptorelin) include:
- Nausea or vomiting

- Back pain or swollen limbs
