Uses
Desowen is prescribed to treat a symptoms of a variety of mild to moderate skin conditions, including swelling, itchiness, and red skin.
It is a topical corticosteroid lotion which effectively reduces the symptoms above as well as inflammation and general irritation, while also moisturizing the area applied to.
Dosage and administration
The steps below are provided as a general guideline for customers. Always follow the instructions provided by your physician or written on the packaging of this product.
- Wash both hands using soap and allow to air dry
- Shake the lotion gently and remove the cap
- Apply a small amount of the lotion and massage gently into the skin
- Allow to air dry uncovered, without covering with bandages, dressing, or clothing
- Wash your hands again using soap, recap the lotion, and put away in a safe place
Side effects
Usually side effects are only mild and short lasting. The most common side effects are burning or stinging, usually when you first use the lotion.
Less common side effects include mouth or hair follicle inflammation, burning sensations, or severe dryness, redness, thinning, softening, discoloration, or peeling. Also watch out for symptoms of an allergic reaction such as swelling, rashes, or hives. If you notice any of these side effects, inform your physician immediately.
Precautions
Desowen may not be suitable for all patients, inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should also disclose details of any of the following.
- Any other medication you are taking, including all off-the shelf medication.
- Any dietary supplements, herbal products, vitamins, or minerals which you take
- Any allergies you have
- Any other illnesses, disorders, or conditions which you suffer from
