Diavista (Generic Actos)
Generic Name: Pioglitazone HCl
Strips of 10 x 30mg Tablets
Manufactured by
Dr Reddy's
What Diavista (Generic Actos) is Used For
For people with Type 2 diabetes, the body is able to produce some insulin, but not enough. In addition, the cells have become resistant to the effects of insulin, which means that the body can't respond to the insulin. This condition is called insulin resistance. Diavista (Generic Actos) effectively reduces insulin resistance, fasting insulin levels, and blood glucose. Diavista (Generic Actos), along with healthy eating and physical activity, works by helping the body use its naturally produced insulin, or administered insulin in type 2 diabetes, to help use glucose as a fuel and reduce the harmful buildup of glucose
Dosage of Diavista (Generic Actos)
Diavista (Generic Actos) is available in 15mg or 30mg tablets. Your physician will tell you which dosage you will require. Diavista (Generic Actos) should be taken once daily with or without food.
Side effects of Diavista (Generic Actos)
Diavista (Generic Actos) can cause fluid retention or edema (swelling), which may lead to or worsen heart failure, so tell your doctor if you have a history of these conditions. Talk to your doctor immediately if you experience rapid weight gain, swelling, or shortness of breath while taking Diavista (Generic Actos). If you have moderate to severe heart failure, Diavista (Generic Actos)is not recommended. Also, your doctor should perform a blood test to check for serious liver problems or active liver disease before you start Diavista (Generic Actos) and regularly thereafter. Do not take Diavista (Generic Actos) if you have active liver disease. Talk to your doctor immediately if you experience nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, anorexia, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin. If you are of childbearing age, talk to your doctor before taking Diavista (Generic Actos) because it could increase your chance of becoming pregnant. Some people taking Diavista (Generic Actos) may experience cold and flu-like symptoms, mild to moderate swelling of legs and ankles, and anemia. Occasionally, blood glucose levels increased during clinical trials. When taking Diavista (Generic Actos) with insulin or sulfonylureas, you may be at risk for low blood glucose.
Who should not use Diavista (Generic Actos)?
Patients with moderate to severe heart failure were not studied during clinical trials; therefore, Diavista (Generic Actos) is not recommended in these individuals. Diavista (Generic Actos) should not be taken by: people with active liver disease or jaundice (yellowing of the skin); people with type 1 diabetes; women who are pregnant or breast-feeding; or people who are allergic to Diavista (Generic Actos) or any of its ingredients. Diavista (Generic Actos) should not be used for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Diavista (Generic Actos) should be used with caution in people with swelling (edema).
