Uses
Dixarit is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is a vascular stablizer and anti-hypertensive medication which can be used on its own or alongside other medicines such as thiazide diuretics in order to enhance the effects. Additionally, it may also be given to help manage menopausal symptoms when HRT (hormone replacement therapy) cannot be used.
It works by opening the blood vessels, increasing blood flow, which as a result lowers the blood pressure, and is normally given to patients who have already tried other medicines without success.
