Uses
Dsorolen (Trioxsalen) is primarily used to treat certain skin conditions, including vitiligo and psoriasis. It is typically administered alongside a course of UV light therapy.
Dosage and administration
Always use Dsorolen (Trioxsalen) as prescribed by your physician.
Patients are normally prescribed between 20mg and 40 mg per dose, 2 or 3 times per week.
Always leave a gap of at least 48 hours between doses unless you have been specifically instructed otherwise by your physician.
Side effects
Always report all side effects you experience to your physician. Possible side effects when taking Dsorolen (Trioxsalen) may include:
- Tiredness
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Fever
Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following:
- Rashes
- Hives
- Swelling
- Trouble breathing
- Difficulty swallowing
- Chest pains
Precautions
Before you begin taking Dsorolen (Trioxsalen) always inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also be sure to disclose full details of any of the following:
- Any other medication (prescription or non-prescription) which you take as well as any use of vitamins, supplements, or herbal products.
- Any allergies which you suffer from.
- Any other health conditions, illnesses, or disorders of any kind which you suffer from.
Dsorolen (Trioxsalen) may increase your skin's sensitivity to UV rays. As a precaution avoid all unavoidable direct sunlight (using sun block cream when you do), and do not use any UV lamps or tanning beds.
