Uses
Duolin (Salbutamol/Ipratropium Bromide) is prescribed to treat various respiratory conditions including COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), bronchospasm, bronchitis, emphysema, as well as help manage narrow airways in the lungs.
Each canister contains approximately 200 metered doses.
Dosage and administration
Always use Duolin (Salbutamol/Ipratropium Bromide) as you have been prescribed and instructed by your physician. Consult your physician if you have any questions about dosing.
Before administering, always shake the inhaler canister gently to ensure the medication is mixed. When using the inhaler for the first time, or if you haven't used the inhaler for a few days, you must prime the inhaler before using it. To do this, simply release 2 to 3 sprays into the air. Then simply place the mouthpiece between your lips and simultaneously press down on the canister while breathing in sharply and deeply. Hold your breath for as long as you can before removing the inhaler and breathing out.
If you have been prescribed more than one inhalation per dose, always leave a gap of at least 15 seconds between inhalations.
Keep a record of how many inhalations you have used from a canister and dispose of the canister when you reach 200. You will not be able to tell when the medication has run out without keeping a record of what has been used.
Each week you should take the mouth piece apart and thoroughly clean it using warm water. Allow it to air dry before putting the inhaler back together.
