Use
Famtrex treats the virus that causes shingles and genital herpes. It does not cure either condition but reduces the itchiness and helps to heal any sores or blisters in the infected area. Famtrex works by inhibiting the ability of the virus to reproduce, reducing the spread of infection.

Dosage
Patients will be prescribed between 125mg and 500mg up to 3 times daily depending on your condition. However you should only use Famtrex as directed by your physician. Famtrex is at its most effective when taken as soon as you notice symptoms appearing.

Some people find it easier to take Famtrex with food or milk, as the medication can sometimes cause stomach upsets if taken on its own.

Side Effects
Some people experience side effects after taking Famtrex. These side effects include headache, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, flatulence, abdomial pain, fatigue or a rash.

Precautions
It is unknown the effects Famtrex has on a fetus, therefore pregnant women should talk to their physicians about whether Famtrex is a suitable treatment for your condition.
