Uses
Foracort Inhaler (Budesonide/Formoterol) is used to manage repiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). It does this by alleviating breathing and wheezing problems. Its primary function is to relax the muscles and reduce any inflammation in the airways, enabling the patient to breathe more naturally.
Please note that this inhaler does not help manage or prevent asthma attacks.
Foracort Inhaler is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years old and over.
Dosage and administration
Only administer Foracort Inhaler (Budesonide/Formoterol) as directed by your physician. Never use incorrectly as doing so may worsen your condition. Never share with others, even if they have been diagnosed with the same condition.
Dosage will vary depending on the condition and the individual patient, however typically patients are prescribed 1 to 4 inhalations per dose, either once or twice a day.
Before administering, gently shake the inhaler for approximately 5 to 10 seconds.
When you use a new canister for the first time, or have not used an old canister for a few days, prime the inhaler prior to use by releasing a few sprays into the air.
Side effects
Report all side effects to your physician. If you suffer any of the following contact your physician or other physician immediately. Possible side effects while using Foracort Inhaler (Budesonide/Formoterol) may include:
- Palpitations
- Tremors
- Headaches
- Congestion (nasal)
- Vomiting
- Sinusitis nasopharyngitis
- Infection of the upper respiratory tract
- Bronchitis
- Oral candidiasis
Seek immediate medical care if you notice any symptoms of an allergic or hypersensitive reaction such as skin rashes, hives, chest pains, swelling, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing.
Precautions
Do not use Foracort Inhaler (Budesonide/Formoterol) if you have thyrotoxicosis, pulmonary tuberculosis, abnormalities in heath rhythm, or acute asthma symptoms.
Prior to using this medication, inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also be sure to disclose full details of any of the following.
- Any allergies you suffer from
- Any existing medical conditions you suffer from
- Any other medication or supplements you are taking
