Uses
Halovate Cream (Halobetasol) is a topical steroid used to alleviate swelling, redness, and inflammation associated with a variety of skin conditions. Conditions successfully treated include eczema, minor allergic reactions, or psoriasis. This medication may be prescribed for other uses as determined by your physician.
Dosage and Administration
Strictly use Halovate Cream (Halobetasol) as you have been prescribed by your physician. Never self-medicate or adjust your dosage yourself. Correct dosage can vary depending on the patient, their medical history, and the exact condition being treated.
To administer the cream, apply to the affected area of skin and gently rub into the skin, making sure to cover the whole affected area and its surroundings. After apply the cream, leave the area of skin uncovered to air dry. Always wash your hands before and after application. Do not apply to any damaged or broken skin.
The effects of this medication should be seen after approximately 2 weeks of correct usage. If you notice no changes after this period of time, consult your physician.
Side effects
Notify your physician of all side effects which you experience when taking Halovate Cream (Halobetasol), doing so promptly if any persist or worsen. Possible side effects may include:
- Itchy, burning, tingling, numb ,or stinging sensations
- Rashes
- Dry skin
- Redness
- Stretch marks
- Peeling skin
- Blistering
- Swollen skin
- Spider veins
- pimples
The following are side effects are more serious. Consult your physician as soon as possible if you experience any.
- Muscular weakness
- Abnormal tiredness
- Abnormal Weight gain
- Insomnia or changes in you sleeping pattern
- Mood changes
- Vision changes such as blurred vision
- Severe or persistent puffiness or swelling
If you suffer an allergic reaction, seek immediate emergency medical attention. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face or limbs, cheat pain or tightness, skin rashes, and hives.
Precautions
Do not apply Halovate Cream (Halobetasol) to any damaged or broken skin. This includes skin which is cut, burned, peeling, and blistering, as well as any damage caused by either injury or skin condition. If unsure, consult your physician.
Before you begin using this medication, disclose to your physician all of the following which apply to you.
- If you are pregnant or trying to conceive.
- If you are breastfeeding.
- If you are taking any other medication (including all non-prescriptions meds).
- If you are using any supplements or herbal products.
- If you have any allergies.
- If you suffer from any other existing medical conditions.
