Laveran (Proguanil) - 100mg (10 Tablets)

Uses
Laveran (Proguanil) is used to help prevent malaria. It works by preventing the malaria parasites from infecting the user, as well as by reducing the transmission of the infection. This treatment is often taken alongside other anti-malaria medication.

Dosage and Administration
Typically, patients should start taking Laveran (Proguanil) at least 24 hours before arriving in a malaria-risk country. Tablets are taken every day in accordance with your physician's instructions. Dose alongside a snack or meal and wash down with a full glass of water. Patients are usually instructed to continue using this medication for up to 6 weeks after leaving a malaria-risk country.

Side effects
If any side effects begin to worry you, or persistent, you should always consult with your physician to ensure it is safe to continue using this treatment. Possible side effects include:

• Stomach upset 
• mouth sores
• vomiting
• stomach pain
• urine may appear pink coloured
• Unlikely but serious symptoms include:
• rashes
• fever symptoms
• persistent sore throat
• unusual bleeding or bruising
• hair loss

Precautions
If you have an allergic or hypersensitive reaction, seek emergency medical attention. Possible symptoms include difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, swelling, chest tightness, skin rashes, and hives.

Laveran (Proguanil) should only be used as instructed and prescribed by your physician or pharmacist. Do not alter your dosage unless specifically instructed to do so by either of the above. Dosage and usage often depends on the severity of the condition, as well as the patient's medical history and current health condition.

Before you begin using this medication, ensure your physician is aware of the following:
