Uses
Megabrom is an eye drop prescribed to patients who have recently had cataract surgery. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which works by reducing swelling and inflammation.

There may also be other uses for the eye drop. Consult your physician for more information.

Dosage and administration
Always use as you have been instructed and prescribed by your physician. Only alter your dose by if you have been specifically instructed to do so by a qualified health care professional.

The follow steps provide a general guideline for application.

  • If you are wearing contact lenses remove them before proceeding.
  • Gently shake the bottle to mix the solution and then remove the cap
  • Tilt you head back and gently pull the lower eye lid down
  • Squeeze the prescribed number of eye drops onto the eye while being careful not to allow the dropper to touch your eye or any other surface
  • Immediately close your eye(s) and gently press the corner of your eye next to your nose to prevent the eye drop solution from draining into your tear ducts.

If you have been prescribed more than one drop per dosing, wait at least five minutes between each drop you apply.

Dosing usually lasts for no longer than 2 weeks in length. If you notice no changes after 2 weeks of use, consult your physician to discuss your options.

Side effects
Possible side effects can include those listed below. These are usually mild and short-lasting. If any side effects persist or worry you, inform your physician promptly.

  • Headaches
  • Itchiness or irritation
  • Pain
  • Redness
  • The feeling there is something in your eye

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any symptoms of an allergic reaction such as:

  • Skin rashes
  • Hives
  • Chest pains
  • Swelling of the limbs or face
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Difficulty swallowing

Precautions
Megabrom eye drops may not be safe and suitable for use by all patients. Always inform your physician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or if any of the following apply to you.

  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medication, or you use any dietary supplements or herbal health products.
  • You smoke, drink, or use any recreational drugs.
  • You have any allergies.
  • You have any other health conditions or illnesses (especially any eye conditions, diabetes, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, or bleeding conditions).
