Uses
Monit is a nitrate vasodilator used to prevent angina caused by heart disease. It reduces the work pressure of the heart and helps to alleviate chest pain. It works by widening the blood vessels in the body.
Dosage and administration
The recommended early dose is 30mg to 60mg once a day. After several days your physician may advise to take 120mg a day (a single 120mg tablet or two 60mg tablets once daily).
The dose may further be adjusted according to your response to the medicine.
Side effects
The side effects include dizziness, nausea, headache, fainting, changes in vision, numbness of an arm or leg, chest pain, severe stomach pain, sudden leg pain, shortness of breath, severe headache, and vomiting.
Precautions
Inform the physician about any medical conditions like heart problems, blood problems, low blood pressure, dehydration, an overactive thyroid, bleeding in the brain, had a recent head injury, etc.
Monit may cause dizziness, so caution is needed while operating machinery, driving, or performing other tasks that demand concentration.
