Uses
Nosocef is a cephalosporin antibiotic prescribed to treat bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting the bacteria from spreading further and reproducing, enabling the body's immune system to fight back. This medicine is meant for short-term use only as the bacteria will gradually become more resistant to the medication.
Please note that this medication will not treat viral infections.
Dosage and Administration
Administration is via injection and is usually carried out by a health care professional in a hospital or health centre.
Always follow the instructions provided by your physician.
Always follow the full course of medication as prescribed even if your condition appears to have disappeared. Stopping early may result in a more sever relapse of the infection as It becomes resistant to the medication.
Side Effects
The skin at the site of injection may swell up, appear red, and feel sore or painful.
Promptly inform your physician of any side effects you notice. Side effects which have been reported by patients taking Nosocef include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Headaches
- Weakness or tiredness
- Confusion
- Darkened uringe
- Abnormal bruising or bleeding
- Changes in appetite
- Changes to your heart rate
- Seizures
- Jaundice
- Intestinal pains or cramps
- Infection symptoms
Seek immediate medical attention if you suffer an allergic or hypertension reaction to the medication. Symptoms could include chest pains, difficulty breathing, trouble breathing, swelling, hives, or skin rashes.
Precautions
Nosocef may not be safe for all patients. To reduce the risks, always inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and always disclose full details of any of the following.
- Any other medication or drugs which you are taking
- Any supplements or herbal products which you are taking
- Any other illnesses or health conditions you suffer from
- Any allergies you have
