Uses
Nupentin is an anti-convulsant prescribed to help manage seizures which are a result of epilepsy.

This medicine is sometimes used in combination with others to help patients who are not successful at controlling their condition with standard anti-epileptic medications. It can also be used to help reduce neuropathic pain caused by damaged nerves.

It works by managing chemicals located in the brain more effectively, helping to inhibit pain and seizures by affecting the signals sent between nerves and the brain.

Dosage and administration
Dosage can very vastly between patients. Always consult your physician or physician regarding the correct dosage for you, and always follow his/her instructions.

Normally your physician will start you on a low dosage and increase until the optimum dosage for you is found.

Patients with other medical conditions such as kidney problems or haemodialysis may be advised to dose on relatively lower amounts.

Capsules should be swallowed whole, alongside a full glass of water. Do no chew, crush, or dissolve the capsule.

For best results, dose at the same time(s) everyday.

If you are taking any form of antacids, ensure there is a gap of at least 2 hours between taking the two different medications. Antacids can interfere with the functioning of Nupentin.

Side effects
Common side effects experienced when taking Nupentin can include those listed below. If any of these side effects persist, worsen, or become bothersome, inform your physician.

• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Somnolence
• Ataxia
• Fatigue
• Weakness
• Coughing
• Rhinitis
• Pharyngitis
• Nystagmus
• Muscle pain
• Swelling
• Weight gain
• Difficulty swallowing
• Shakes or tremors

If you experience any of the following listed side effects, inform your physician as soon as possible.

• Fever symptoms
• Infection
• Abdomen pains
• Constipation
• Amnesia
• Confusion
• Depression
• Insomnia
• Rashes
• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Flatulence
• Gingivitis
• Vertigo
• Vision changes

Precautions
Nupentin is not suitable for patients under the age of 3 years.

Before you begin taking Nupentin, always inform your physician of any of the following that apply to you.

• You are pregnant or trying to conceive
• You are breastfeeding
• You have any other medication conditions, especially if you have any seizure disorder or any kidney problems
• You are taking any other medication which may interfere with Nupentin, such as cimetidine, tagamet, magicul, morphine, antacids
• You have any allergies
