Uses
Otibact ear drops are given by vets to help treat animals with yeast, bacterial or fungal based ear infections. It is an anti-biotic and fluouquinolone, which contains enrofloxacin and silver sulfadiazine.
Dosage and administration
Use only as advised by a qualified vet. Do not share with other pets for which Obibact has not been prescribed. Always speak to your vet for the suitable dosage for your pet.
Although only a guideline, below is the typical dosage for dogs:
- Dogs under 35 lbs require 5 to 10 drops, twice a day, for a period of 2 weeks.
- Dogs over 35 lbs require 10 to 15 drops, twice a day, for a period of 2 weeks.
Side effects
Common side effects include those listed below. Promptly contact your vet if your pet shows signs of any side effects including those not listed below.
- Swelling in the joints
- Damage to the joints or cartilage
- Lameness
- Behavioral difference
Precautions
Before you use Obibact to help your pet, ensure the vet who prescribed the medication is aware of:
- Any allergies your vet has
- Any other medication your pet is being given
- Any other health conditions your pet had, especially related to the ears or hearing
- If the animal is pregnant or nursing babies.
