What is Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is important for cell growth, cell differentiation and cell proliferation. EGF Gel has been helpful for treatment of burns and skin wounds by improving healing time. EGF can also be used as a beauty treatment. It can reduce the signs of aging by rejunetaing the skin, reducing discoloration and restoring skin elasticity.
How does Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Work?
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) works by attaching itself to its receptor (EGFR) and stimulating tyrosine kinase activity. This then causes several biochemical events within the cell leading to DNA synthesis and cell proliferation.
Possible Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Side Effects
As with most topical applications there may be some unwanted effects on the skin including rash, itching, redness and swelling. If any of these occur you should discontinue treatment and seek medical advice from your physician.
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Dosage and Administration
Contact your physician regarding dosage and length of treatment for wound or burn treatment. For anti-aging the gel can be applied twice daily for a four to six week period.
