Uses
Rezatrin Forte (Artemether/Lumefantrine) is used to treat cases of parasite-caused malaria. It can also be used as an emergency treatment for Plasmodium Falciparum infections, which are spread by mosquitoes. The medication kills the parasites responsible and prevents further growth and spreading. It has been shown to be effective in treating drug resistant or sensitive parasites.
This medication is suitable for use by adults, children, and nfants weighing 5kg or more.
Dosage and administration
Always take Rezatrin Forte (Artemether/Lumefantrine) as prescribed or instructed by your physician.
The most common way to administer this medication is 1 tablet taken after diagnosis, followed by another dose 8 hours later, and then 1 each 12 hours for a further 2 days. Tablets should be taken on a full stomach only. Your dosage may be altered by your physician after you begin dosing based on your progress and condition.
Side effects
Side effects which may occur for patients taking Rezatrin Forte (Artemether/Lumefantrine) can include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Appetite Loss
- Ataxia
- Heart Palpitations
- Muscle Pain or Joint Pain
Inform your physician of any side effects you experience, doing so promptly if any persist or worsen.
Precautions
Rezatrin Forte (Artemether/Lumefantrine) is not to be used by patients suffering from severe malaria, for example malaria which affects the brain, or malaria which results in kidney failure or pulmonary edema.
This medication should be taken with extra caution by patients with heart, liver, or kidney conditions of any kind.
Before you begin using this medication inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and disclose full details of any of the following:
- Any allergies which you suffer from.
- Any other existing medical conditions or diseases which you suffer from.
- Any other medication you take (including non-prescription meds).
- Any vitamins, supplements, or herbal products you use.
