Uses
Solu-Cortef is typically used in emergency situations when an intense corticosteroid is needed for immediate treatment. Occasions where this injection may be required include:
- Severe shock
- Sever inflammatory
- Allergic reactions
- Dangerous drops in blood pressure
- Crohn's disease
- Ulcerative colitis (inflamed bowel)
- Lupus erythematosus
- Certain surgical emergencies for example inflamed lungs through inhalation of stomach acid
Dosage and administration
This medicine is typically administered when needed only and is done via a slow injection inserted into a muscle or vein.
It will be normally be carried out by a physician at a local health clinic. If you have been advised to administer the injection yourself then you must strictly follow the directions provided by your physician.
