Details Suminat Tablet Generic Name: Sumatriptan Succinate 1 Tablet of 100mg Suminat Manufactured by Sun Pharma Use Suminat is the generic form of Imitrex. It is used for the treatment of severe migraine headaches. It works by narrowing the blood vessels in ceratin parts of the brain, that are thought to be cuase of migraine headcahes. Suminat or other Sumatriptan based medicines do not prevent migraine headaches and they are ineffective at treating at other types headaches. Suminat is at its most effective when you feel the symptoms of a migraine coming on. Dosage In most situations you will take one Suminat tablet at the onset of the migraine headache. You may be able to take a second tablet after 2 hours if the symptoms of the migraine have not been relieved. If the symptoms still persist, you must seek medical attention. Do not take more than 200mg of the tablets, or two tablets, in a 24 hour period. Side Effects Some patients may experience side effects after taking this medication. Some of the reported side effects after taking Suminat tablets include pain or tingling sensations in the body, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, changes in blood pressure and changes in vision. Others may experience more serious side effects including convulsions or an irregular. While on rare occasions patients may experience an allergic reaction to Suminat with side effects including wheezing, difficulty breathing, hay fever or a rash. If you experience any of these side effects you should urgent medical attention. Precautions Combining Suminat with other medications can be dangerous. You are advised to tell your doctor if you are taking any other medications, including homeopathic remedies. You are strongly advised to inform your doctor if you taken any MAO Inhibitor medication in the last 14 days. You shoud also tell your doctor if you intend taking a MAO Inhibitor with in 14 days of taking Suminat. If you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, angina (recurring chest pain), a heart attack, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, stroke, transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke), ischemic bowel disease, coronary artery disease, seizures, or blood vessel, kidney, or liver disease then discuss with yoour doctor about whether Suminat is suitable for your condition.
