Uses
Tilstigmin (Neostigmine) is used in the treatment of Myasthenia Gravis, an autoimmune disorder and neuromuscular condition which causes increased fatigue and muscle weakness. The condition occurs due to blocked neurotransmitters (specifically Acetylcholine receptors) and this medication works by unblocking the neurotransmitters affected, allowing normal functioning and reducing the severity of symptoms experienced by patients.

Dosage and administration
Take Tilstigmin (Neostigmine) strictly as prescribed by your physician.

The typical dosage prescribed is 15mg, taken every 3 or 4 hours. Daily total starting dosage is usually 75mg, but your physician may choose to increase your dose depending on your progress and reactions to the medication. Similarly, your physician may choose to decrease your dosage or take you off this medication. The maximum daily dosage prescribed is 300mg.

You will usually require regular check-ups while using this medication. Always attend all appointments.

Side effects
Notify your physician of all side effects you experience while taking Tilstigmin (Neostigmine). Possible side effects may include:

• Diarrhea
• Excessive sweating
• Muscle cramps
• Weakness
• Hypotension

There is also a risk of Anaphylaxis developing, which may be life threatening. Seek immediate medical attention if you think you may be experiencing any associated symptoms.

Precautions
Tilstigmin (Neostigmine) is not suitable for patients who are pregnant, attempting to conceive a child, or breastfeeding.

This medication is not safe for all patients and extra caution should be taken if you have any history of epilepsy, peptic ulcers, bronchial asthma, arrhythmia, hyperthyroidism, hypotension, renal impairment, or if you have had any recent surgery.

Before you begin taking this medication, always disclose the following to your physician.

• If you have any allergies.
• If you have any other existing medical conditions.
• If you are taking any other medication of any kind.
• If you are using any herbal products or supplements of any kind.
