Uses
Univent Nasal Spray (Ipratropium) is used to help alleviate symptoms associated with colds or allergies, such as a runny nose, blocked nose, and general nasal congestion. Each nose spray bottle contains approximately 345 sprays.
Dosage and administration
Always use Univent Nasal Spray (Ipratropium) as you have been prescribed. If you are unsure how to administer the nose spray consult your physician.
Most patients are advised to administer either 1 or 2 sprays per nostril, between 2 and 4 times per day. Attend all appointments as your physician may choose to alter your dosage in accordance with your progress.
Side effects
Disclose all side effects you experience to your physician. Possible side effects include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Sore or dry throat
- Headaches
- Nasal congestion
- Nose bleed(s)
The following side effects are rarer but more serious, and require prompt medical attention:
- Eye pains
- Wheezing
- Changes to your heart rate
- Changes to your urination
- Changes to your eyesight
If you suffer an allergic reaction seek emergency medical attention. Possible signs may include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, chest pains, swelling of the face or limbs, hives, and skin rashes.
Precautions
Before you use Univent Nasal Spray you should always inform your physician if you are either pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also essential that you ensure your physician is aware of any of the following:
- If you are pregnant or trying to conceive.
- If you are breastfeeding.
- If you are taking any other medication (including all non-prescriptions meds).
- If you are using any supplements or herbal products.
- If you have any allergies.
- If you suffer from any other existing medical conditions.
