Uses
Vivitonin is given to elderly dogs to help reduce any problems with their hearing, sight, mental or physical condition. It works by increasing oxygenation, neurological and cardiovascular function, and helping to reduce the severity of aging symptoms such as tiredness, apathy, lethargy, senility, stiff gait, troubles standing or walking, wasting, alopecia. It also increases dogs' appetite and energy levels, whilst restoring more shine to their dull coat.
It can also reduce the speed of cataracts forming so your dog can see better and for longer into old age.
Dosage and administration
Correct dosage will depend on your dog's weight, existing conditions and general response to therapy.
The tablets can be swallowed straight or mixed with a small amount of food. It should be given on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before meals.
A general dosage guide is provided below.
- 0 - 5kg may take 1/2 a tablet a day (split into a 1/4 in the morning, and a 1/4 in the evening)
- 5 - 8 kg may take 1 tablet a day (a split into 1/2 in the morning, and 1/2 in the evening)
- 9 - 15 kg may take 2 tablets a day (1 in the morning, and 1 in the evening)
- 16 - 25 kg may take 3 tablets a day (split into 1.5 in the morning, and 1.5 in the evening)
- 26 - 22 kg may take 4 tablets a day (2 in the morning, and 2 in the evening)
- 34 - 50 kg may take 6 tablets a day (3 in the morning, and 3 in the evening)
Side effects
Vivitonin is generally a very well tolerated medication. If you think your dog is showing signs of adverse affect, inform your vet promptly.
As part of this treatment you should notice an increase in your dog's appetite and agility.
Precautions
Vivitonin may not be suitable for all dogs. Inform the vet before using if your dog:
- Is being given any other medication or supplements
- Is pregnant or nursing pups
- Has any allergies
- Has any other medical conditions, especially kidney, lung, or heart related
Store in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children and animals.
