Uses
Xlash (Bimatoprost) is used by patients wishing to improve their eyelashes' length and thickness, which have both been proven to be increased by using this medication. It can also help make eyelashes darker and more noticeable.
Dosage and Administration
Xlash (Bimatoprost) is usually applied once daily in the evening, or as otherwise directed by your physician. Before applying this treatment, always remove any makeup or contact lenses beforehand.
To apply, place 1 drop of the solution on the provided applicator brush. The solution should then be carefully brushed along the skin of the upper eyelid at the base of the eyelashes of each eye you wish to treat. Do not use this medication on the lower eyelids. Patients should wait at least 15 minutes after applying the medication before reinserting contact lenses.
Side effects
Side effects which have been reported by patients who have applied Xlash (Bimatoprost) include:
- Irritation of the eyes
- Eye redness
- Darkening of the eyelashes
- Darkening of the skin around the eyes
- Unwanted hair growth
If the solution often comes into contact with the eye itself, it may eventually lead to a darkening of the iris pigmentation. However, if the patient is careful not to get the medication into their eye(s), this can be avoided.
Precautions
Special care should be taken to ensure no Xlash (Bimatoprost) solution gets into the eye.
If you have an allergic or hypersensitive reaction, seek emergency medical attention. Possible symptoms include difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, swelling, chest tightness, skin rashes, and hives.
Xlash (Bimatoprost) should only be used as instructed and prescribed by your physician or pharmacist. Do not alter your dosage unless specifically instructed to do so by either of the above. Dosage and usage often depends on the severity of the condition, as well as the patient's medical history and current health condition.
