Uses
Zonimid is an anti-seizure medication prescribed to patients suffering from epilepsy and seizures associated with the condition. It helps to keep the condition under control, and is usually used in combination with other medication. This medicine is chemically classed as a sulfonamide and is not related to any other anti-seizure medication.
Dosage and administration
The best dosage for you will vary depending on individual factors, so you should always visit your physician to discuss your dosage and always follow the directions and advice given.
A typical dose of this medication is 1 or 2 capsules per day, and can normally be taken either with or without food. Zonimod capsules need swallowed whole, do not crush, chew, or dissolve it as this could result in severe side effects.
Side effects
Possible side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, insomnia, loss of coordination, and changes in appetite or vision. Inform you physician if any side effects start to bother you, worry you, become persistent, or begin to worsen.

- Dark or bloody urine

- Nystagmus
- Jaundice
- Trouble breathing
- Speech change
- Unexplained or easy bruising or bleeding
- Infection symptoms such as fever or a sore throat
- Changes in heartbeat (speeding up, slowing down, irregular beating)
When you use anti-convulsant medication like this this there are risks of experiencing potentially dangerous changes in mood, along with depression, and even suicidal thoughts. It is important you ask those around you, such as your friends and family, to watch out for signs of mood changes or any unusual behavior of any kind.
Precautions
If you think you having an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms which may indicate a reaction of this kind include rashes, hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, and a tight chest.
Until you are fully aware of how Zonimid 25 affects you, avoid driving, operating any dangerous machinery, and taking part in any activities which require a high level of concentration. This medication has been shown to cause dizziness, weakness, and a generally reduced alertness in some patients.
