Uses
Minipress (Prazosin) is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It may be used alone or combined with other medicines to achieve the best results. This medication is a type of alpha-blocker, which works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, enabling blood to flow more easily with less pressure to work against. By reducing blood pressure, the risks of stroke, kidney conditions, and heart attacks are decreased.
Dosage and Administration
Minipress (Prazosin) is usually taken 2 to 3 times per day, and usually started on a reduced dose before working up to the normal regular dosage. It can be taken without food, however patients who do this and experience stomach discomfort after dosing should try doing so alongside food instead. Never abruptly stop taking this medication without first consulting your physician. Keep all appointments with your physician so that your blood pressure can be monitored and your dosage can be adjusted as needed.
Side effects
