Uses
Pirox Gel (Piroxicam BP) is a topical gel that is used to treat pain and swelling caused by a variety of conditions, such as osteoarthritis, tendinitis, strains, sprains or tennis elbow. It contains the active ingredient, piroxicam, a type of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, which works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body, known as prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and swelling. By reducing these chemicals, this gel helps to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
Dosage and administration
Pirox Gel (Piroxicam BP) is applied directly to the affected area. Patients should first wash and dry the area where pain occurs, and then gently rub a thin layer into the affected area. The gel is absorbed into the tissues, and will then help to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
Patients should consult their physician in order to determine how often the gel should be applied, and for how long treatment is required. Do not use this gel for longer than recommended by your physician.
